I’m Melissia (Mel-iss-EE-ah). I’m a fine artist with a BFA in 2D Fine Art and Art History from Moore College of Art and Design, Philadelphia, PA. My goal with art is to always be exploring the world around me. I have always gained inspiration from the natural world, my earliest works were portraits and figure drawings, then I moved into insects, butterflies, and moths, now I am most inspired by flora and fauna. My art is my way of slowing down and studying the natural complexities that are easily missed in our fast paced, capitalist society.

Most of my hobbies involve nature: I enjoy camping, hiking and traveling to new places. I’ll go to any art or science or history museum that I can find, I’ll be that person sitting in the corner of a gallery or on the side of a trail with my head in my sketchbook. I am a physician assistant (PA-C) and specialize as an internal medicine hospitalist. I have seen a lot of horror and human suffering since I started working in hospitals in 2017, so I use my art as an outlet for creative expression and to slow down my anxious brain. Choosing to fill my life with beauty and nature has been the best self care.
